Nowadays Web Designing is as easy as cooking an instant noodles. Just generate your pages by using much software in the market. Many web designers are doing there things, thinking that if someone come across their websites it will look good with a particular browser and a particular screen – resolution. Unfortunately, when viewed in a different browser the plain text can even be read.
For instance, a customer who wants to buy in a boutique through internet but can’t read the pages properly will surely loose temper and worst will not buy products. The following categories will help web designers. Some may not be that easy but some may also be used through.
1. A picture, which explains a thousand words. Pictures or images surely enhance a web page or even the whole site. But, it is not also advisable to upload many images to avoid slow load time. Many surfers are dial-up connection users and must not be taken for granted. A separate HTTP request to the server is also required for each file.
Talking about those users who doesn’t like to see jazzy, fantastic and truly amazing buttons; ALT must be provided. Alternate Text for each image must be provided to be understood by surfers. Height and Width attributes that determines the space of the image can also make your pages load faster.
2. Navigability and Functionality is also important. Surfers want to navigate through the whole site before judging the website as a good one.
3. Mystery Meat Navigation. This means the user have no idea where a link will take him when he clicks on an image. On the other hand, when the mouse hovers it’s the time that users will see the actual link.
4. Follow the K.I.S.S principle: Keep it simple, stupid!
5. Slow connection due to many graphics such us tables will lead the surfers to leave your site and surf on other sites. In this case, if your whole page is within a table, you must split the table up into two tables. One on the top and must be a short table just to display the header and navigation links.
6. A website must be degrading gracefully. Due to some cases like a certain feature that is supported by one browser, probably it will not be supported by another.
7. Users must be given a prior notice that links would open in a new window. Links must be opened in another window so that it can be easily open by a user.
8. Font styles do matter! Maybe I your website, fonts are very attractive. But in other users, it will be seen as a plain text or Times New Roman.
9. Use plain and easy font style like Arial, Verdana, Tahoma and Courier.
10. Give your users an easy way of visiting your site. Let them know where and what they are visiting.
11. Now a day, various vendors in the web come up with revolutionary plug-ins. Macromedia’s Shockwave Flash plug-in has made its way to be known on most computers today and it is user friendly.
12. One of the misused technologies on web pages is the Java. Java is a utilitarian programming language; it is not a graphic for your photos. There are some features of certain software but, use it with discretion.
13. Meta Tags must not be underestimated. In searching use discreet and small description or keywords for easy results.
14. And the final point, make for all browsers, all resolutions, and all color depths.
In business customer is a king, same in the internet, surfers are royalties. A good website is like a complete storehouse.
